Transfer News: Chelsea Join Race For €70m-Rated Casemiro

English Premier League club, Chelsea has joined the race for signing Brazilian professional footballer, Carlos Casemiro.

Naija News understands that the 29-year-old who plays as a defensive midfielder for Spanish club Real Madrid is currently been rated at €70m.

Thomas Tuchel’s side has, however, shown interest in the player in a bid to boost its defensive line next year.

Casemiro who is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world caught the attention of the English club having played 307 games for Real Madrid, scoring 30 goals and registering 27 assists in the process.

However, Madrid is considering letting go of the Brazilian after this summer in the wake of poor displays in the first half of the current season.

The La Liga club is said to have already identified Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, as a replacement for Casemiro, who has a contract at Santiago Bernabeu until June 2025.

Naija News understands that Casemiro joining the Blues would make the club have a formidable defence structure considering the presence of the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, in addition to the resurgence of Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Blues are currently swindling on the 3rd position in the League table with a point behind Liverpool and two behind leading Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Arsenal is under pressure to replace its team captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Naija News understands that the calls became more intense after the Gabonese player was dropped for Arsenal’s clash against Southampton over the weekend for breaching a disciplinary rule.

The 32-year-old player’s actions in recent weeks have been heavily criticized with several calls from fans and pundits for him to be stripped of the armband.

Although the club manager, Mikel Arteta has yet to decide if Aubameyang will remain captain or not, The Mirror listed five realistic candidates to replace the player.

However, five players have been listed as a possible replacement for the Gabonese striker.
