Adebayo Shittu: Unlike Oshiomhole, Lalong Has More Money To Spend On Tinubu’s Campaign
A former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has claimed that Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau was selected to head the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign due to his deep pocket.
Naija News gathered that a former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who was earlier touted for the position, was dropped.
Explaining the decision to pick Lalong over Oshiomhole, Shittu said the choice of the Plateau State Governor was down to the decision of the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his policy-making team.
He stated that Lalong, as a current governor, would readily provide money needed for Tinubu’s campaign, unlike Oshiomhole, an ex-governor.
According to Shittu, picking someone who is not a governor would put the campaign in financial difficulties.
He said, “Everybody knows that for one to be the Director-General of a campaign council, there is an advantage in being a current governor. This is because of the encumbrance of finances, expenditures, and security. If you pick someone who is not a governor, you have to start begging for money here and there. But a serving governor will readily provide the money needed.
“The candidature of Lalong, certainly, pleases my heart with regard to the recent circumstances of our politicking as a nation.”
