After Mile 2 Boat Capsized, Lagferry MD commiserates, donates life jackets for Ibeshe community
The boat capsized that claimed 19 passengers on board at Mazamaza end of Mile 2 Inland Waterway channel, with no survivor on Friday due to indiscriminate parking of barges operation on the waterways, the Lagos state ferry service, (LAGFERRY) commiserates and donates life jackets to Ibeshe Island of Oriade LCDA, Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos on Sallah day.
The managing director/chief executive officer, Lagos state ferry service, (LAGFERRY), Hon Lad-Abdul-baq Balogun with his team recently paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family, particularly the Ovori of Ibeshe Kingdom- HRM Oba Gausu Alani Rasaki; chairman, Oriade LCDA- Hon., Ramotallahi Akinlola-Hassan and Chairman of Lagos Boat Operators, Mr. Lawal Babatunde.
He said, the government of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu places premium value on the life of every Lagosian and will continue to make living, playing and working in Lagos easier, convenient and comfortable as security of lives and properties and welfare of the people remains its priority.
Balogun said “we assured the community and other riverine areas of Lagos State of the genuine commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to the well being of the riverine populace, through steady investments in waterfront infrastructures, modern jetty construction, channelization and dredging, strengthening of the regulatory agency oversight functions – LASWA.
The search and rescue facilities including a floating clinic water ambulance, navigational aids & safety control center, and very importantly, the acquisition of locally built ultra-modern boats for commercial operations of Lagos Ferry Services and the local boat operators through collaboration with the private sector, he said.
“These deliberate actions of all-inclusive boat feform will further engender the full realization of the multi-modal transportation system in the State with functional alternatives but interconnected road, rail and water transport modes.”
Mobility systems will be enhanced, enabling Commerce and Promoting Tourism.
