Akeredolu’s Wife Disgraced, Chased Away From Imo APC Secretariat
The First Lady of Ondo State and Senatorial aspirant, Betty Akeredolu, was chased out of the venue of the primary election for Imo East Senatorial District.
It was learned that Mrs Akeredolu was chased out by thugs who invaded the party Secretariat, the venue of the Senatorial primary election conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While another report said she was chased out of the secretariat on Saturday by the Police when her supporters protested alleged disenfranchisement
In a chat with reporters at the gate of the secretariat, Mrs Akeredolu rejected the outcome of the primary election, saying that the exercise was faulty and fraudulent.
She appealed to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC to reject any plan by the party in the state to present a consensus candidate for Imo East District.
Mrs Akeredolu said it is an injustice to allow aspirants to campaign only to be told that the party had adopted the consensus option.
She, however, stated that no election has been conducted for the APC senatorial ticket for the area.
She said, ” I am insisting that we must go by delegate election. I cannot waste time and resources campaigning only to be told that candidates would emerge by consensus. We must vote and if I lose gallantly, I will accept the result.
“Consensus my foot. If men agree to a consensus, I won’t agree. After spending my time and money, you are now telling me about consensus and all this while we have been campaigning and nobody talked about consensus.
“I am pleading with the NWC of our party to know that any result coming from this kangaroo election from Imo state for Imo East senatorial district should be rejected. There was no election.”
Betty, who hails from Emeabiam in Owerri West Local Government Area of the state is contesting against four other aspirants.
Other aspirants are Alex Mbata, Kemdi Opara, Jerry Chukwueke and Ugochukwu Nwachukwu.
