Anambra Election: Supporters Throw Party At Soludo’s Residence As He Wins 18 LGAs
It was an all-party on Sunday night at the residence of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the Anambra guber election, Prof.Chukwuma Soludo.
Naija News reports that the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria swept eighteen local government areas in the Anambra governorship election conducted during the weekend.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had confirmed that the APGA candidate won in 18 of the 20 LGAs of the State, before the commission declared the Saturday polls as inconclusive due to some infractions from some areas.
Soludo won with massive votes from the following LGAs; Dunukofia, Awka South, Oyi, Anaocha, Ayamelum, Anambra East, Idemili South, Onitsha South, Njikoka, Orumba South, Onitsha North, Idemili North, Ekwusigo, Aguata, Orumba North and Nnewi South Local Government Areas.
He polled a total of 103, 946 votes, followed by Mr Valentine Ozigbo who scored 51, 322 votes to emerge second while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Sen. Andy Uba, got a total of 42,942 votes to emerge the third.
However, while no candidate is yet declared the final winner of the Anambra 2021 governorship election, Soludo’s supporters on Sunday night gathered at his home in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, celebrating his wins.
It was gathered that Soludo’s political associates, youths and women in their hundreds thronged to his residence at Isuofia to party heavily as they await declaration from INEC.
Speaking to journalists at the celebration, one Mrs Chioma Ocha said she was happy now that a governor would emerge from her community.
She reportedly said: “We are here to show solidarity to our brother and son while we wait for INEC to announce the final result.
“But I’m particularly happy that my town, Isuofia, will be producing the next governor of Anambra. That is a very big achievement, ” she said.
Another supporter at the Sunday night party, Mr Chinedu Ogubuiro said his presence at the candidate’s residence was to celebrate ahead of INEC’s announcement.
He said: “I am one of Soludo’s kinsmen and I want to be on the ground to celebrate with him when INEC announces the results of the election.”
Meanwhile, INEC had declared the November 6, governorship election in Anambra state inconclusive.
The Returning Officer for the Gubernatorial Election, Professor Florence Obi made the announcement at the INEC head office in Awka, Anambra capital stating that there was no election in the Ihiala Local Government Area of the state, Naija News reports.
