Anthony Joshua Is One To Three Bouts Away From Retirement – Eddie Hearn

Eddie Hearn, the promoter of Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, said the former champion has one to three bouts to his retirement.

This is coming after Anthony Joshua was humiliated in a bout against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium. Recall that the former champion was knocked down four times and ultimately knocked out in the fifth round by Dubois, who retained his IBF world heavyweight title in front of a crowd of 98,000 spectators.

Speaking to Charlie Parson of The Stomping Ground, Hearn disclosed that Joshua’s boxing career was approaching its end.

Hearn stated, “I said to AJ on the phone you’ve probably got between one and three fights left. Then it went a bit quiet. He kind of realised, blimey, we’re on the home straight. We are.”

Following Anthony Joshua’s recent loss to Daniel Dubois, Hearn confirmed the existence of a rematch clause, indicating that Joshua is likely to pursue a rematch with the Briton.

However, given the one-sided nature of the previous fight, Joshua may consider alternative options to reclaim his position at the top of the heavyweight division.

One potential avenue is a long-anticipated showdown with Tyson Fury, who is scheduled to face Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch this December. If Fury emerges victorious, a voluntary defence against Joshua could potentially settle the score between the two domestic rivals.

Another potential opponent for Joshua is Deontay Wilder, the former WBC champion. While Wilder has faced recent losses, he is considering a return to the ring, and a bout with Joshua could be appealing for both fighters.

The outcome of Joshua’s next fight, whether it be a rematch with Dubois or a clash with another top heavyweight, could determine whether he makes one final push for a unified heavyweight championship title.
