Earlier this year, Shaheen married Ansha – who is the daughter of former star player Shahid Afridi in a private ceremony with close people.

However, their grand reception witnessed a star-studded guest list – including prominent Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Mohommad Rizwan and ex-Pakistani player Shoaib Malik.

One other attendee was Babar Azam – who is the current captain of the Pakistani cricket team.

Babar was seen hugging the groom –  extending his heartiest congratulations to the newly married couple.

The gesture put an end to all the swirling rumours about Babar and Shaheen’s discord during the 2023 Asia Cup matches.

Speculations were that there was a swirling rift between the teammates, and a discord between Babar and Shaheen took place shortly after the team’s disappointing performance in the last leg of Asia Cup 2023.

The Pakistani team’s champion-like playing ended in a dismal fashion after finishing at bottom of the Super Four stage.

This subsequently put the team’s journey in the league to an end.

Rumours suggest that the captain and the capable left-arm pacer engaged in a verbal altercation, which resulted in a rift between the entire team.

It is alleged that Babar expressed serious dissatisfaction with the team’s poor performance, and had urged them to bring out their best performance.

In response, Afridi defended the team’s efforts and asked the captain to acknowledge the players who did well in the games.

However, all these rumours were put to end after the skipper attended Shaheen’s wedding reception and took part in the celebrations with high spirit.

He even posted a picture of the duo standing next to each other on X (previously called Twitter).

The caption read: “Heartiest Congratulations” with a heart emoji.

On the same day, another picture of the two was posted by Shaheen with the caption: “Family”, indicating a rock solid bond between the two.
