Atiku Condones With Oyo, Niger, Lagos Over Fire Incidents
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has condoned with the victims of fire incidents in Oyo, Lagos and Niger State.
Naija News reported that a fuel tanker from Wudil, Kano, collided with a trailer transporting cattle to Lagos, on the Agaie-Bida Road in Niger State on Sunday morning, leading to the death of over 40 people.
In his condolence message on his X handle on Monday, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.
Atiku’s statement read: “During the weekend, three highway fire incidents were reported in three states across the country, namely Niger, Oyo, and Lagos.
“While the incidents in Niger and Lagos were said to have reportedly claimed 48 and 3 lives respectively, the one in Ibadan left so much destruction in its trail.
“All three were caused by articulated vehicles carrying petrol across different locations in the country.
“I condole with all the affected families and affiliated trade unions whose members and assets may have been victims of these incidents.
“I also sympathize with farmers and other travellers who constitute major victims of the incident in Niger State.
“I similarly show appreciation to the officers of the Fire Service in all three states for their brave efforts in rescue and control operations.
“My condolences to those who may have lost loved ones and property to the incidents, and I pray that the deceased victims meet eternal mercy.”
