Atiku To Meet Wike In London As Associates Fume Over Lamido, Babangida’s Attack On Rivers Governor
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is set to hold a meeting with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
Naija News had earlier reported that the former Vice-President on Monday jetted out to London, UK, to meet Wike.
Atiku travelled out of the country on Monday after attending the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos.
Sources have now revealed that Atiku would meet Wike in an attempt to resolve his rift with Nyesom Wike.
Sources close to the former vice-president said Abubakar is billed to meet with the Rivers governor on Thursday (today).
“The PDP presidential candidate headed for London today after arriving Paris yesterday. He is billed to meet with Wike tomorrow in an attempt to resolve the issues between them,” a source told The Cable.
It was also gathered that associates close to the PDP presidential candidate are not happy with how former governor of Jigawa, Sule Lamido, and former governor of Niger, Babangida Aliyu, have criticized Wike.
They have also urged Atiku Abubakar to call the former governors to order as reconciliation moves continue.
Naija News reports that Lamido and Aliyu have constantly attacked the Rivers State Governor over his rift with the former vice president.
Speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday, Lamido had said: “We should forget about Wike.
“Wike is an individual. I don’t think because he is a governor there, he has control and monopoly over the peoples of Rivers.”
