AVOID SOCIAL MEDIA UNLESS IT ADDS VALUE TO YOUR LIFE – GOV. UMAHI

~ Calls on Ndigbo to continue on the path of respect and hardwork

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. (Chief) David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE has called on the youths to exercise caution as it concerns social media. He spoke during a Church service at Christ Embassy Church, Mile 50, Abakaliki on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

In his words, “… See this social media, try to run away from it unless it is for the benefit of your life, your family and the Church”.

The Governor frowned at the social media-engineered rumor about the resurrection of the late former Commissioner for Infrastructural Development and Concession, Late Engr. Fidelis Kings Nweze which created pandemonium in the state last week Thursday noted: “So we need to be very careful. I am coming up with a law in the state. If you propagate news that will bring anybody down or escalate a crisis, you will be arrested and tried.”

On the late Engr. Nweze, Gov. Umahi said:
“I am very proud of the young man. In a society where people pay evil for good done unto them; in a society of betrayals; in a society where young men are no longer interested in hard work, that young man excelled in everything”.

“So we continue to pray for the family and the state. We lost quite a lot. He was handling not less than ten (10) different projects. There were no complaints.”

The Governor expressed his commitment to adopt the late Engr. Nweze’s family even after his tenure has elapsed.

“I have become the father of the family till eternity and I will stand by the family even when I leave office because of the life he lived”.

Dispelling the rumor that the late Engr. Nweze was plotting to take over as the next governor of the state, Gov. Umahi said:
“Some people will say because I was going to hand over to him, he never told me he wanted to be Governor but he was more than a Governor.”

On the need for contentment and Ndigbo to brace up for the challenges ahead, Gov. Umahi stated thus:
“Before, we were known for hard work, we were known for onye biri, onye biri. But when you have so much greed, you will never be satisfied. So the Igbos must continue on their cultural values; culture of respect, culture of hard work”.

“Every leader is appointed by God and God has reasons. If you are happy with what God has given to you in Ebonyi State, he will give you another good Governor”.

Gov. Umahi also exhorted Christians to be the harbinger of change in society.

“So we need to be in the spirit because I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ can change the society. We can change the society if we are very conscious of our responsibilities”.
