Ayu’s Resignation: APC Plotting Constitutional Crisis In PDP – Dino Melaye

The spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organization, Dino Melaye has said that the All Progressives Congress, APC is responsible for calls for the removal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

Malaye stated this on Monday while speaking during a podcast organized by the leadership newspaper.

Naija News reports that the crisis in the PDP began after the fall out in the presidential primaries in June which produced Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party.

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike had been displeased with the outcome of the election and accused the PDP of manipulating the event.

Wike and his supporters therefore called for the removal of Ayu, insisting that it is the only way balance will be restored in the party.

However, Melaye has alleged that those who want Ayu to vacate the position are from the ruling party.

He said: “Those trying to create a constitutional crisis in PDP are from the APC, where the party – APC becomes the beneficiary. If you say Ayu should be unceremoniously removed at this point, the provisions of the constitution of PDP states clearly that his replacement must come from his zone.

“Atiku is not a president-elect yet, so why would you take a drug before diagnosing the problem? It is only logical and reasonable to wait for our presidential candidate to become a president-elect.”

Speaking further, Malaye argued that asking Ayu to resign when Atiku is not yet the president is a deliberate attempt by the APC to create constitutional crisis within the party.

He went on to state that the alleged plot by the APC would not work as the PDP had procedures for running their party.
