Cameroon Goalkeeper Andre Onana Involved In Ghastly Accident
Ajax goalkeeper, Andre Onana has survived a ghastly motor accident, Naija News reports.
The 25-year-old was reportedly on his way to Douala from the country’s capital, Yaounde to join his home teammates in preparation for their doubleheader 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers fixture against Algeria when the incident happened.
Details about the accident are still unclear, a photo of the accident scene, however, shared on social media by Cameroon based journalist Njie Enow, showed how Onana and an unidentified individual crashed into each other.
The player escaped the incident unhurt but is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, Naija News learnt.
Cameroon Goalkeeper Andre OnanaReporting the accident via his Twitter handle, @NjieEnow, Enow tweeted: “Andre Onana is fine. I just had a word with Cameroon and Ajax keeper Andre Onana after his accident this morning.
“He told me ‘I’m ok and I’m heading to the camp. We have a crucial game’,” Enow wrote.
In another post, Enow said Onana is currently undergoing a battery of tests in Douala.
He said: “Cameroon’s coaching staff wants to have all assurances that Onana is in fine form before making any changes.
“Apart from the cars involved in the accident, no casualties were recorded, the reports indicate.”
Naija News understands that Onana was among the Cameroon squad that won the bronze medal in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by his country.
