Champions League: Four Key Atletico Madrid Players To Miss Man United clash
Atletico Madrid will be without four key players in their Champions League match against Manchester United on Wednesday (today).
The Spanish professional football club will host the Premier League side in round of 16 first-leg tie today at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, Naija News reports.
The four players reportedly ruled out in the clash are Koke, Yannick Carrasco, Matheus Cunha and Daniel Wass.
Koke joins Matheus Cunha and Daniel Wass on Atletico Madrid’s injury list, while Carrasco will miss both legs of the tie through suspension.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Madrid coach Diego Simeone said, “Well, Lemar is coming back from COVID-19.
“Carrasco is suspended, Koke unfortunately, is not going to be with us because he’s got an injury.
“We have many other players who are looking forward to playing for this opportunity to show their ability. I’m excited about that,” the Argentine-born coach added.
In another news, former Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed what Mikel Arteta told him before his exit from the club.
The Gabonese striker dumped the Gunners to join Barcelona as a free agent in the January transfer market after his contract with the club was terminated.
Aubameyang was stripped of the captaincy at the North London side following a disciplinary breach, which saw him dumped from the starting lineup.
The striker who had his first league start on Sunday scored a hat-trick in a 4-2 victory over Valencia.
Aubameyang while speaking on his move to Camp Nou said Arteta wished him luck ahead of his move to the club.
The striker while speaking with Mundo Deportivo said, “Yes, Arteta wished me luck at Barca.
“Some of the things we did with Arteta are similar.”
