Datti Baba-Ahmed: Confusion Trails Real Age Of Peter Obi’s Running Mate
There seems to be a controversy over the actual age of the Labour Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed.
This is coming a few hours after former Anambra State governor Peter Obi announced Baba-Ahmed as his running mate ahead of the 2023 election.
Although Baba-Ahmed’s date of birth was not found on his university’s profile page, Baze University Abuja, data available on the school website reads: Sen. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is a 46-year-old Academician, Businessman and Nigerian politician.
According to the information available on Wikipedia, the economist is said to have been born in “1975 or 1976”.
The early life and education’ section notes read: “He was born to the Baba-Ahmed family in Zaria in the 1970s”.
Amidst the controversy, a family source quoted by Daily Post on Friday said that Baba-Ahmed is 53 years old.
The family source said: “He was born July 7, 1969.”
Naija News earlier reported that Obi’s running mate was once an employee of the security Printing and Minting, Lagos, before venturing into politics.
Baba-Ahmed was elected as a House of Representatives member for Zaria Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party in 2003.
While in the position, he became known for speaking out against corruption and the third term agenda of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
In 2006, while a federal representative, he earned the title of Doctor of Philosophy when he completed his PhD studies at the University of Westminster.
Baba-Ahmed won the Kaduna North Senatorial seat in April 2011, and he occupied the seat from 2011 to 2012.
