Davido Speaks Hours After Oyetola Dragged His Uncle, Adeleke To Tribunal
Award-winning Nigerian singer, Davido has reacted to the petition filed against his uncle and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ademola Adeleke, over the outcome of the Osun State gubernatorial election.
Naija News earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, on Friday submitted documents challenging 749 polling units across ten local government areas of the state for various electoral malpractice, especially overvoting.
He argued that Adeleke ought not to have been declared winner, as he was not qualified to have contested the election in the first place, having submitted a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, Davido in a post shared on Twitter urged Oyetola to congratulate his uncle, stating that Adeleke congratulated him in 2018 amidst the controversies that trailed the election.
He wrote: “Your excellency sir, @GboyegaOyetola, when will you congratulate the incoming governor of your state, @AAdeleke_01?.
“In 2018, my uncle congratulated you even though it was stolen. Do the right thing baba, one love.”
Adeleke’s Reaction
The governor-elect, in a statement on Saturday issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, urged his supporters home and abroad to remain calm, stating that their victory cannot be stolen.
Adeleke noted that the July 16th election was one of the most transparent elections in recent Nigerian history and would do everything possible to ensure judicial validation of their victory.
