Deputy Speaker Kalu, Minister Of State For Finance, Hail Okonjo-Iweala
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu and the Minister of State for Finance, Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, have congratulated Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on her re-election as World Trade Organization (WTO) Director General.
Naija News reported that on Friday, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala made history as the first black person and first black woman to be elected and re-elected to lead the WTO.
They described the former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy under former President Goodluck Jonathan, as an outstanding woman with visionary leadership qualities.
Benjamin Kalu hailed Okonjo-Iweala’s tireless efforts in advancing global trade reforms and promoting global economic development.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our dearest sister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her reappointment as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization for a second term.
“This remarkable achievement is a testament to her outstanding leadership, dedication, and tireless efforts in advancing global trade reforms and promoting economic development. Her visionary approach has indeed strengthened the WTO’s role in addressing complex global challenges, promoting inclusivity, and championing sustainable growth, particularly for developing nations.
“I am confident that this reappointment will have a profound impact on the global economy and I wish her more success and accomplishments as she continues to make Nigeria, Africa, and the world proud through her exceptional service,” Kalu stated.
On her part, the Minister of State for Finance, Mrs. Uzoka-Anite noted that Mrs. Iweala has made Nigeria proud.
“Congratulations on your well-deserved reappointment Director-General! Your exceptional leadership continues to make all Nigerians proud. Looking forward to strengthening our partnership as you commence your second term in September 2025,” she wrote on her X handle.
