‘Doesn’t mean I’m unbeatable,’ says Beau Greaves as World Darts Championship moment reminds her she’s ‘vulnerable’
BEAU GREAVES admitted she remains “vulnerable” to defeats despite safely booking her place in the quarter-finals of the WDF World Darts Championship.
The 20-year-old has won the women’s title in each of the last two years, establishing herself as the best in the world.
On Tuesday, she sealed her spot in the last-eight with a 2-0 win over Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen.
And while it was a relatively smooth passage into the next round, Viinikainen did threaten a comeback in the second set when she made it seven darts into a nine-darter.
Last month, Greaves competed as one of two women in the Grand Slam of Darts.
She claimed a 5-1 win over Cameron Menzies following losses to Danny Noppert and Martin Schindler.
But while she is the overwhelming favourite in all women’s-only events, she insists she is still fallible.
She said: “Obviously, I played the Grand Slam and I ended up winning a game.
“I played okay, but I think most ladies know what I can play and what I can do, but that doesn’t mean I’m unbeatable. I do get beat a lot on the women’s series.
“I do lose games and I think that’s what makes me vulnerable in a way.

“It can happen at any time, you don’t know when like players like Kirsi can have them games that just shock you.”
Greaves was also critical of her performance, but admitted getting through it with the win was all that really mattered.
She added: “I mean I won and obviously that’s the main thing, but I didn’t play great. My darts were dropping low and stuff.
“There’s nothing worse than coming back here and trying to defend your title, so it’s difficult up there to get your first game and especially playing Kirsi as well, that’s such a difficult first game.
“But I’m just pleased she missed a few of doubles and I’m happy to come out the winner.”
