EPL: Two Chelsea Players Depart Club – Management Confirms

Chelsea’s academy goalkeepers, Ethan Wady and Sami Tlemcani have departed the club on loan.

The club management confirmed this in a statement made available on its official website on Tuesday, Naija News reports.

The player’s departure followed the arrival of Mason Burstow from Charlton Athletic. The 18-year-old forward had joined the Blues before the transfer window closure on Monday.

However, moments after his signing, Chelsea sent Burstow back on loan to the Valley for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.

The English Premier League club revealed in its update that Wady had moved to Hendon, while Tlemcani joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Merstham.

The statement on the Chelsea website read partly: “Academy goalkeeper Ethan Wady has moved on loan to Hendon.

“The American, who joined the Chelsea Academy during the 2017/18 campaign, has previously gained first-team experience on loan at Tooting & Mitcham United in the Isthmian League and with National League South side Dartford. Hendon play in the Southern League Premier Division South.

“Wady turned 20 last week and has made three development squad appearances in 2021/22.”

It added: “Another Academy goalkeeper, Sami Tlemcani, has joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Merstham on loan until the end of the season.

“The 17-year-old arrived at Chelsea in October 2020 from Paris FC in his native France. He has made four appearances for our Under-18s and will now continue his development in the seventh tier of English football at Surrey club Merstham, who are 15th in the table.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, on Tuesday said leaving North London side, Arsenal without a real goodbye hurts.

The Gabonese stated this while appreciating the club fans for their support after leaving the club by mutual consent.

Aubameyang further stated that he was unhappy that he could not contribute after being banished from the Arsenal squad.

Naija News reports that the striker in a post on his Instagram account wrote, “To the Arsenal fans, thank you for making London home for myself and my family for the past four years.

“We went through ups and downs together and your support meant everything to me.

“Having the chance to win trophies and the honour of being the captain of this club is something I will forever keep in my heart.

“I have always been 100% focused and committed on doing everything I can for this club which is why leaving without a real goodbye hurts – but that is football.
