Ex-Gov Obiano’s Wife, Ebelechukwu Wins APGA Senatorial Ticket
The former first lady of Anambra State, Ebelechukwu Obiano has won the senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Grand Alliance ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Former Governor Willie Obiano’s wife is running to represent Anambra North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Ebelechukwu in the primary which was held at Chuba Ikpeazu Township Stadium in Onitsha on Sunday defeated Primus Odili, who was her husband’s Chief of Staff, during his tenure as governor.
The former first lady gathered 152 votes, while Odili scored 120 votes. Two other aspirants, Junior Onwuteaka and Tony Nnacheta scored two votes each.
The primary had to be shifted to Sunday after violence erupted at Otuocha Stadium in Anambra East Local Government Area on Saturday forcing the committee to move it.
Ebelechukwu has been having a tough time with her ambition as the two people who have been supporting her husband allegedly ganged up to stop her from picking the ticket.
