Ex-Lawmaker, Dino Melaye Gets New Appointment

A lawmaker in the 8th national assembly, Sen. Dino Melaye, has been appointed as the Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT), All Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) support groups.

The former Kogi West Senator made this known in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, Naija News reports.

Announcing his new portfolio on the social media platform, Melaye wrote: “Appointment as chairman board of Trustees All pdp support groups. Thank you.”

It could be recalled that Melaye made a u-turn to the PDP in 2019 ahead of the general elections after months of political struggle with Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.

The politician had in 2015 defected to All Progressives Congress (APC).

He, however, returned to his former camp after a fallout with the ruling party.

He was the Chairman Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. And briefly the Senate Committee Chairman on Aviation in Nigeria.

Melaye contested for the Kogi State gubernatorial election which was held on 16 November 2019. On 3 September 2019, He lost his gubernatorial ambition in the primary election where he came third, with a total of 70 votes behind Engr. Musa Wada who won with 748 votes.

Naija News understands that Melaye is hopeful of succeeding Governor Bello in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
