Fani-Kayode Reacts To Atiku’s PDP Ticket Victory, Tells APC What To Do
Nigerian lawyer and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the victory of Atiku Abubakar at the just concluded presidential primary elections of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Naija News reports that PDP held its national convention in Abuja on Saturday where the party’s presidential flagbearer for the 2023 general election emerged.
Former Vice President, Atiku won massively with a total vote of 371 to defeat his closest rival, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike who garnered 237 votes.
Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki came third in the party’s primary with a total of 70 votes. Meanwhile, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal had stepped down for Atiku before voting commenced yesterday.
Joining the host of others to congratulate the Adamawa State-born politician, Fani-Kayode advised the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to field a northerner to defeat Atiku.
Fani-Kayode observed that Atiku is a formidable candidate and that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC must field in a Northern if it truly yearns for the presidential seat.
In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Sunday, Fani-Kayode wrote: “Congratulations to @atiku. Not only is he a formidable candidate but he comes from a zone that has not produced a democratically-elected President for 62 years. This is justice.
“@OfficialAPCNg MUST field a NORTHERNER if we want to win. Whichever way, a hard fight lies ahead.”
