FG Promotes 8 FRSC Officers To Deputy Corps Marshal Rank

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has approved the elevation of eight Assistant Corps Marshals (ACMs) to the esteemed position of Deputy Corps Marshals (DCMs) within the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Three of the newly appointed DCMs are to retire immediately, while the remaining five positions are to be occupied by individuals to replace those who previously held the roles.

These key appointments and promotions were confirmed in a statement released in Abuja on Monday by the Acting Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) of the FRSC, Olusegun Ogungbemide.

Ogungbemide specified the geographical areas for the vacant positions as follows: South South, South East, South West, North Central, and North West geopolitical zones.

He further announced the names of the individuals to fill these vacancies, including Deputy Corps Marshal Clement Oladele to represent the North Central geopolitical zone, and Deputy Corps Marshal Chidiebere Nkwonta to represent the South East geopolitical zone.

“DCM Sunday Iyamah is appointed to fill the vacancy in the South-South geopolitical zone.

“Others are DCM Musa Yerima, who will represent the North West geopolitical zone, and DCM Abiodun Akinlade, who will represent the South West geopolitical zone when DCM Bisi Kazeem bows out in August.

“The promoted senior officers to proceed with immediate retirement are DCM Kingsley Agomoh, DCM Jonas Agwu, and DCM Zubairu Mato,” he said.

Ogungbemide referenced the SGF statement, which expressed satisfaction with the transparency and objectivity demonstrated throughout the process.

Akume called upon the designated officers to demonstrate increased dedication and recommit themselves to realising the Corps’ corporate vision.

He emphasized this to eliminate Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) and foster a safer environment for motorists nationwide.

The SGF clarified that the appointment aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s initiative to acknowledge and reward excellence, diligence, and hard work.

“This is in line with the administrative philosophy of the present leadership of the Hope Agenda regime,” he said.

On his part, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, celebrated the newly promoted officers for their excellent performances during the exercise.

Mohammed conveyed that an increased burden of responsibilities accompanies each elevation to a higher position.

He urged the individuals to exert their utmost effort in fulfilling their roles, emphasizing that elevating to a new rank necessitates heightened concentration, dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm.

He cautioned those less fortunate in their appointments to maintain their belief and remain faithful to the system.
