Full List: Biography Of PDP Governorship Candidates For 2023 Elections
The main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party has conducted its governorship primary elections across many states in Nigeria ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The PDP governorship candidates would contest against candidates of the All Progressives Congress, the Social Democratic Party and other governorship candidates in 2023.
The likes of Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and some others would be hoping to retain their seat.

Cross River State: Sandy Onor
Sandy Ojang Onor (born 14 February 1966) is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was elected in 2019 to represent the Cross River Central Senatorial District in the 9th Assembly of the Senate. He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
In his early education, he attended St. Francis, FSLC 1971 – 1975 and St. Brendan’s GEC (O level) 1976 – 1981 all of which are both in Obubra LGA. Onor University’s education was at the University of Calabar, where he studied History. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree (Second Class (Upper Division) 1983 – 1987. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in History from the University of Calabar 1988 – 1993.
Niger State: Liman Kantigi
Liman Kantigi was a former Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs in Niger State before emerging as the Governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party in the state.
Yobe State: Sheriff Abdullahi
Sheriff Abdullahi was a former senatorial candidate, before emerging as the Governorship candidate of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday.
Kebbi State: Aminu Muhammad Bande
The Governorship candidate of PDP in Niger State, Maj-Gen. Aminu Bande (rtd) is a former general in the Nigerian Army.
Bande until his retirement was the substantive General Officer Commanding of 8 Division Sokoto.
Borno State: Mohammed Jajari
Mohammed Jajari is the candidate of PDP who would contest against the current state Governor and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Borno State, Babagana Zulum.
Nasarawa State: David Ombugadu
Emmanuel Ombugadu was born on January 10, 1978. He attended LEA Primary School Kakuri in Kaduna State. In 1995, he attended Government College Keffi where he obtained his SSCE certificate. He then proceeded to the University of Jos to get a bachelor’s degree (BSc.) in Economics in 2001.
Ombugadu was a Member of the House of Representatives Nigeria representing Akwanga, Wamba and Nassarawa Eggon federal constituency from 2011 to 2019
Delta State: Chief Sheriff Oborevwori
Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori (born 19 June 1963) is a Nigerian politician and incumbent Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly as a representative of the Okpe State Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sheriff Oborevwori was born on 19 June 1963, to the family of Chief Samuel and Mrs. Esther Oborevwori of Osubi town in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.[1] He began his early childhood education at Alegbo primary school and completed his secondary education at Oghareki Grammar School, Oghareki.
He graduated from the prestigious Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2004 and later proceeded to obtain a master’s degree in political science from the Delta State University Abraka in 2010. Oborevwori is an alumnus of the Alliance Manchester Business School of Manchester University Leadership Executive Certificate Programme and the London School of Economics and Political Science certificate Programme on Leading Inclusive Development
Abia State: Prof Uche Ikonne
Uchenna Ikonne is a Nigerian professor of optometry. In December 2015 he became the 7th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Abia State University. having previously served as the Rector, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba – (on Rescue Mission) 2014–2015.
Ikonne was born in Agburuike, Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North, Abia State. After attending Ngwa High School in Aba of Abia State, he studied optometry at Manila Central University, Philippines. He also graduated from a specialist master’s degree programme in Hospital Administration at St. Jude College, also in the Philippines, and on his return to Nigeria in 1985, served as consulting optometrist at the Park Lane General Hospital, Enugu, and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Environmental Health Science from Abia State University.
Enugu State: Peter Mbah
Peter Mbah holds a B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD in Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He hails from Amechi Awkunanaw in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State. He had his primary education at St. Paul’s Primary School, Nsukka, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State; and later attended Nsukka High School (now Anglican Grammar School, Nsukka) for his secondary education, and the Lamidoe University of Nigeria, Nsukka for his university education.
Jigawa State: Musta
Mustapha Sule Lamido was born on the 5th of May 1983 in Jigawa State.
The Governorship candidate of PDP attended Samadi International Primary School, Kano [1991 – 1996], then he attended Federal Government College, Kwali Abuja. [1996 – 2002]. After secondary school, he attended the University of Abuja with, B.Sc. Political Science, [2003 – 2008]. After his BSc in political science, he attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, to studied a master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy [2013 – 2016]. He continue to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where had his PhD in M-Phil Nigerian
Oyo State: Seyi Makinde
Seyi Abiodun Makinde (born 25 December 1967) is a Nigerian businessman, politician and philanthropist who is the Governor of Oyo State since 29 May 2019. He is an engineer and a subject matter expert on fluid and gas metering.
Makinde was born to a renowned teacher turned accountant, late Pa Olatubosun Makinde and late Madam Abigail Makinde of Aigbofa Compound in Oja’ba, Ibadan, Oyo State. He is the third child of the family
Adamawa State: Ahmadu Fintiri
Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (born October 27, 1967) is a Nigerian politician and the current Governor of Adamawa State. He was a member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and was appointed the Speaker of the House. He became the acting Governor of Adamawa State following the impeachment of Admiral Murtala Nyako the former governor of the state in July 2014, handing later to Bala James Ngilari after serving for three months.
In the March 9 2019 Adamawa State gubernatorial election and upon the completion of the March 28, 2019, Adamawa State supplementary election, Ahmad was declared winner of the election having polled 376,552 votes defeating the Incumbent governor Bindo Jibrilla of the All Progressive Congress who polled 336,386 votes.
Taraba State: Agbu Kefas
Kefas holds a Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc) in Political Science and Defence Studies from the Nigerian Defense Academy, A Master of Science Degree (M.Sc) in Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan, Master of Public Administration (MPA), Delta State University
Kwara State: Abdullahi Shuaib Yaman
Abdullahi Shuaib Yaman is a businessman who would be contesting against the current governor of Kwara State Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of the All Progressives Congress.
Benue State: Titus Uba
Titus Uba (born 25 September 1965) is a Nigerian politician who is currently serving as speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly since August 2018. Uba represents the Kyan constituency in the state assembly. His emergence as the speaker of the house followed a vote of no confidence and the subsequent impeachment of the former speaker of the assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange.
Gombe State: Jibrin Barde
The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe State is a former managing director of Sun Trust Bank.
Bauchi State: Ibrahim Kassim
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bauchi State, Barrister Ibrahim Kassim is a Former Secretary to Bauchi State government.
Rivers State: Sim Fubara
Fubara Siminayi before his emergence as the governorship candidate of PDP was the Accountant General of Rivers State under the leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Kaduna State: Isah Ashiru
Hon. Isa Ashiru Kudan was born on 23rd October 1962 in kudan LGA of Kaduna state.
He attended LEA primary school, Kudan from 1968 to 1974. Then attended Secondary school from 1975 to 1980 at Kufena college wusasa, Zaria. He proceeded to earn his National Diploma in Business Administration from 1982 to 1985 at the katsina polytechnic from 1987 to 1989, he attended Kaduna state polytechnic and completed his HND.
In 1999, he acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management. He earned a master’s degree in Public policy and Administration from the year 2000-to 2001 at Bayero University Kano (BUK).
Sokoto State: Sa’aidu Umar
Sa’aidu Umar was the former Secretary to Sokoto State Government before his emergence as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Plateau State: Caleb Mutfwang
Caleb Mutfwang was a former chairman of the Mangu local government of Plateau before winning the governorship ticket of PDP.
