But just ten minutes later and Van Dijk levelled from a Liverpool corner.

That was after he escaped a red card just five minutes into the game following a collision with Kai Havertz.

The centre-back appeared to twice kick out at Havertz during a tussle as the Arsenal forward went to ground.

So when Van Dijk popped up with the equalising goal – Gooners were not too pleased.

One said: “He shouldn’t even be on the pitch, but let’s save that for later.”

Another added: “So Van Dijk equalises not long after he should have been sent off.

“Any other side would have seen their player off but Livarpool get away with it. Make it make sense.”

One fumed: “Ah. Van Dijk who should’ve been sent off scores. Of course.”
