‘I Cannot Be Phased Out’ – Actor Charles Awurum Reacts To Growing Popularity Of Skit Makers

With the growing popularity of skit makers, Nollywood actor, Charles Awurum has declared that he cannot be phased out.

Naija News reports that the actor made this known during an interview with journalists over the weekend, stating that he has God’s gift which makes it impossible for him to be replaced.

According to Awurum, his comic character in movies has become a part of his life, stressing that on many occasions, he had to compel people to take him seriously.

He said: “I cannot be phased out. What I have is God’s gift; it is not possible (for me to be displaced).

“There are so many times that people don’t take me seriously, and I have to force them to take me seriously. At times when they see me, they would just start laughing. But, when I start talking, they would know that I am serious. I don’t do comedy outside television. When I am not on set, I am different.”

2023: I Will Not Collect Money

Ahead of the 2023 election, Awurum revealed that no amount of money will make him support anyone who is not fit for a particular position, stating it is stupidity for anyone to support politicians who cannot improve the country.

According to the veteran actor, he is not financially buoyant, however, it is not a criterion to collect money and voted for someone that is not fit for the office.

He further advised Nigerians on the need to vote for the right candidates during the 2023 election.

He said: “It is stupidity for one to support people who cannot improve the country. People will always know that one is doing it because of money.

He said: “I don’t have money but I won’t collect money from anybody in exchange for voting for them when I know the person is not fit for the office. (For entertainers who support such politicians), that is their business. However, I think we all, as Nigerians, should come together and think of how to improve the country.

“Let’s vote the right people into elective offices. When we vote the right persons, we will be able to hold them accountable. And, if they don’t do what the people want, we would change them. More people need to be part of the system.”
