I Was In Germany For ‘Deserved Rest’ – Governor Akeredolu Confirms SaharaReporters’ Story On Medical Trip

Rotimi Akeredolu

Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo State, has returned to Nigeria after staying in Germany for at least 10 days.

A source had told SaharaReporters that the governor was in the European country for medical treatment after the March 26 All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention in Abuja.

Shortly after the report, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Richard Olatunde issued a statement attacking the newspaper, claiming Akeredolu “only left for Dubai.”

“It is, therefore, glaringly insidious for anyone to claim that a man who was with his brother Governors in Dubai till March 31st, which is exactly one week today, is being hospitalised in Germany.

“What exposes this shameful falsehood is the fact that SaharaReporters claimed the Governor was flown out of the country to Germany when in fact, he left for Dubai,” Olatunde had said.

However speaking on the state-owned television station, OSRC, the governor confirmed he was in Germany for his “deserved rest.”

He said, “On the 1st, I took up my deserved rest in Germany; this is what I have done in the last a week and the half until I heard about this; the best way you can describe it is a wicked rumour that I’m not alive. They said I was bed ridden, that I was on life support but my support is Christ.”
