I Will Support Any Candidate That Will Hurt PDP – Afegbua

Former Commissioner for Information in Edo State, Kassim Afegbua has condemned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for ceding its presidential ticket to the North.

Recall that Atiku Abubakar who is from the Northeast won the presidential ticket of the party defeating the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who is from the South.

Afegbua, who stated that he is looking for a presidential candidate that would hurt PDP in 2023, however, expressed excitement that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi would reduce PDP’s vote in the South-East.

The former PDP chieftain in an interview with Daily Independent took the opportunity to charge Obi to remain in Nigeria and canvass for votes instead of going abroad.

Afegbua further stated that he wants the PDP to bleed to death in 2023 so that there won’t be a continuation of the northern presidency.

The former commissioner also commended fourteen governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) that supported ceding the presidential ticket of the party to the South.

He said, “I am in support of the actions they took which led to the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the party’s candidate.”

Afegbua in his charge to Obi ahead of the 2023 general election said, “Now, the point is, a Peter Obi is representing some of the younger population. Of course, he goes on the streets and you see a lot of young people hailing him but I doubt if that kind of impact can sink into the rural areas where the real votes are”.

“Rather than Obi to stay in Nigeria and be reaching out to the different components of the state, he prefers to globetrot, visiting New York, CNN and so on. Those people will not come and bring the votes. He needs to remain here to get the votes.”
