Insecurity: Teni And Other Nigerian Celebrities Who Have Been Attacked Recently
The security challenges in the country have been a major concern as citizens, politicians, celebrities, monarchs, businesses and others have not been spared from its wrath.
This makes it imperative to urge the government to further strengthen the nation’s security organs across board to tackle the challenges of insecurity.
Below are some popular Nigerian celebrities that have experienced public attacks in recent times and have opened up about it.
Kemi Afolabi
Naija News had earlier reported that a popular Nigerian actress, Kemi Afolabi, on the 5th of January was attacked and injured by robbers in Ogun State.
Afolabi took to her Instagram account to share videos and pictures of the injuries she sustained from the attack.
She wrote: “My driver and I were attacked by armed robbers at Arepo where I went to film, while in traffic on our way back home, they broke my windscreen, left my whole body with wounds because of the impact of the shattered glass which was forcefully broken while I was in my car, my arm was cut with a cutlass, they took my phones, belongings and ran off! Sadly my driver also took a hit to his head.”
Teniola Apata
The award-winning singer was attacked by hoodlums during her performance at Buguma town in Asari-Toru Local council of Rivers State.
In a video that was spotted online, gunshots were heard, with claims that there was an attempt to abduct the singer who was performing one of her hit songs before the attack.
Terry Apala
Popular Nigerian singer, Terry Apala, on the 13th of September, 2021 was attacked by robbers on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
The development was disclosed in a post shared by him on Instagram, showing the shattered glasses of the vehicle.
The musician and his friends reportedly lost their phones and other valuables in the attack.
He wrote, “Bitter experience tonight got robbed just now with my guys on the Third Mainland Bridge.”
Bimpe Akintunde
Nollywood actress, Bimpe Akintunde, on the 17th of January, shared her experience on Instagram on how she ran into bandits at Oni-Garri but was able to escape the attack.
She wrote, “Let’s be careful on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, I escaped the bandit’s attack at around 5 pm this evening, after Oni-Garri on my way to Lagos. They were shooting at all the vehicles coming from Ibadan, they were like ten in army uniform shooting directly at us. God save me and my daughter, I can’t believe this.
“Like they were shooting directly at us!!! where are we going in this country, broad daylight attack!!!! God came through for us, I turn back! followed one way and alerts other drivers too. just help me thank God for my life and that of my innocent daughter. we are back in Ibadan state and healthy but in shock.”
