Jonathan Travels To Italy Ahead Of APC Presidential Primary
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has travelled to Italy ahead of the Presidential primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naija News had reported that the APC had fixed June 6th and 7th as dates for the conduct of its presidential primary election.
The ruling party also fixed the screening of presidential hopefuls for Monday, May 30th and Tuesday, May 31st.
Also, the APC has released the list of Presidential aspirants scheduled for screening ahead of its Special National Convention set to take place at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
In a chat with BusinessDay, one of Jonathan’s aides said the former President travelled out of the country over the weekend and is in Lake Como in Italy.
He said Jonathan has nothing to do with surreptitious plots by some APC members to draft him into the contest for the presidential primaries of the party.
The aide said Jonathan is attending the 2022 high-level advisory board meeting of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East, ECAM Council.
He said the presence of Jonathan in Italy shows that he detests sponsors of the political schemings, said to be the handiwork of fifth columnists from the northern part of the country.
“There is no truth to all the noise you are hearing in the media,” he said.
