Just In: Abaribe Dumps PDP, Resigns As Senate Minority Leader
Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe has dumped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and may be joining the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, where he would be picking the Abia South Senatorial ticket to battle Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
Abaribe’s resignation comes days after he withdrew from the PDP governorship primaries scheduled for Wednesday, citing an imaginary delegate list, lack of transparency as reasons for his withdrawal.
He has equally resigned as the Senate Minority Leader.
Abaribe made the development public in two separate letters – one addressed to his Ward Chairman and the other to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, dated 24th and 26th May, 2022 respectively.
Meanwhile, Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, recently picked the senatorial ticket for Abia South District following his triumph at the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held across the state.
Ikpeazu would have to face opponents from opposition parties during the general election coming up next year in order to determine if his dream of becoming a senator like his predecessors would materialise.
