Kano APC Leadership: Shekarau Faction Heads To Supreme Court

The faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to former Kano Governor Ibrahim Shekarau has vowed to challenge the ruling of the Court of Appeal.

Naija News reports that the Appeal Court on Thursday ruled against the emergence of the APC faction in the state which has Ahmadu Haruna Zago as its Chairman.

The court then proceeded to uphold the appeal by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led faction of the party and set aside the judgment of the FCT High Court for lack of jurisdiction.

The court ruling delivered by Justices Haruna Tsammani, B. I. Gafai and J. Amadi, added that the matter is an intraparty affair.

However, the factional chairman loyal to former governor Shekarau, Ahmadu Haruna Zago, said the ruling will be contested at the Supreme Court.

In an interview with BBC Hausa Service, Zago disclosed that their lawyers were studying the court’s ruling for the next line of action.

He said, “We will appeal. Abiding by the ruling is quite different from filing an appeal. Our lawyers are studying the court’s ruling.

Recall that the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed the ruling of a High Court backing Senator Ibrahim Shekarau’s G-7 faction of the APC in Kano over the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje led faction.

Naija News reports that Governor Ganduje and Senator Shekarau have been at loggerheads over the running of the APC in the northwest state.

The crisis had led to the conduct of parallel congresses which produced two different state leadership.

The APC leadership had tried to settle the rift between the duo which led to the Shekarau’s faction rejecting terms for power-sharing.
