The schedule was confirmed to newsmen on Tuesday by the Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC), Naija News reports.

Chairman of KTSIEC, Ibrahim Bako who spoke with newsmen today said the information takes effect from January 11 through 11 April 2022 in compliance with the 90 days notification as contained in the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

He said: “It is my pleasure to officially announce that we have slated Monday 11th April 2022 to conduct the Local Government Councils Election in the State.”

Bako urged all stakeholders to comply and adhere strictly to the laws and guidelines governing the conduct of the Local Government Council in the state as doing otherwise will not be tolerated.

He also noted that the “guidelines and timetable for the elections will be distributed to all and sundry in due cause.”

Meanwhile, the Coalition of the Northern Groups (CNG) has listed the major hindrance to the conduct of the 2023 general elections.

In a statement on Sunday by its spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the group listed the major threats to the upcoming elections as rising insecurity and drug abuse menace in the country.

He advised the Muhammadu Buhari government to immediately address the security challenges facing the country and solve the drug problem among the youths.

Suleiman added that the government must make it a duty this year to solve the daunting security challenges by disarmament, demobilisation, reintegration of Boko Haram terrorists and bandits.

The CNG spokesman also advised the government to begin the reconstruction of properties destroyed by the criminals within the next few months, Naija News reports.

He disclosed that the review and improvement of the current national security architecture will also help in addressing the security challenges facing the nation.
