Labour Party Fixes Friday To Unveil Peter Obi’s Running Mate

The Labour party has rescheduled the unveiling of its vice presidential candidate which was initially slated for Thursday to Friday, 8th.

The unveiling is to be done by the LP’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at the party’s national secretariat, Abuja.

According to the Vanguard, Senator Baba-Ahmed, who is in his 40s, is reportedly the party’s vice presidential candidate.

The National Chairman of the party, Barrister Julius Abure, however, noted that the unveiling of Baba-Ahmed could not go ahead on Thursday as planned because Peter Obi, who had traveled to Maiduguri and expected back in Abuja Thursday afternoon, had his flight canceled.

Abure said that the unveiling of Mr. Obi’s running mate will hold at the party’s headquarters on Friday, July 8.

Meanwhile, former Deputy National Chairman of Labour Party, (LP), Calistus Uju Okafor has tackled the former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi over his inability to settle the crisis in the party.

In an interview with journalists in Abuja, on Wednesday,  Calistus Uju Okafor, who is currently challenging the constitutionality of the Abure-led national working committee of the party in Court, faulted the claims of Doyin Okupe that he was demanding N48 million to withdraw his case against the party.

Calistus said he is fighting for his right and justice, pointing out that Obi left the Peoples Democratic Party because of the injustice carried out against him.

He stated that he is not going to court for the sake of Obi, noting that his case has been instituted in court since  21st December 2021 before the former Anambra Governor joined the party on May 29th.
