Lagos: Police Reveals Action After Reported Attack On PDP Candidate, Jandor

The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force says it has commenced investigations regarding the reported attack on the campaign team of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran (Jandor).

The Lagos Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin gave the update in a statement on Monday.

Naija News recalls suspected thugs on Sunday attacked the campaign team of the governorship candidate in Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State.

It is understood that Jandor’s team was attacked while returning from visitation to Ikoga Junction in the Badagry Local Government area.

Speaking on what transpired, Hundeyin said the Police provided security for Jandor and his team in their original campaign but they took a detour to an undisclosed location on their way back from the campaign where the attack occurred.

He said they were not properly informed or carried along in the detour but were investigating what actually happened and also waiting for victims from the attack to lodge complaints and provide helpful information.

The Lagos Police PRO however assured that no effort will be spared in arresting and prosecuting the attackers.

The statement reads: “The Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigations into the attack on the campaign train of the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran.

“It is imperative to clarify that the party notified DPO Badagry of the time and locations of their visits. Adequate security was provided.

“However, the campaign train made an unscheduled visit to a totally different and undisclosed location on their way back without commensurate notification to the police.

“Furthermore, the command is awaiting from the victims a complaint/statement that would assist in the ongoing investigation.

“The assurance is hereby given that no stone will be left unturned to arrest and prosecute the attackers.”

We Are Not Responsible

Meanwhile, the Lagos chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has come out to say it wasn’t responsible for the reported attack on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor.

The Lagos APC, however, cautioned Jandor to desist from accusing the party over a reported attack on him during the campaign.
