Atiku Has No Chance Of Winning North-East – Yahaya

Governor Inuwa Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State has said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, will be defeated in the North-East.

He stated this in Minna, the Niger State capital, on Saturday when he visited former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar.

According to the governor, the PDP presidential flagbearer has no chance of winning in the North-East.

“Our chances are very high indeed and we are strong in our resolve to work towards the success of our great party,” he said.

He also dismissed plans to work against the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

The Gombe governor said there was nothing like brother and party man, adding that Nigeria was one and went beyond region.

Ayu Asks New PDP BoT Chairman To Reach Out To Wike, Fayose, Makinde, Others

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu, has urged the newly appointed chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Adolphus Wabara, to reach out to aggrieved members of the party.

Naija News reports that Ayu made the plea when he led the party’s national working committee (NWC) to visit Adolphus Wabara at his residence on Friday.

Recall that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and his allies have demanded Ayu’s resignation as a condition for resolving the crisis.

However, the PDP national executive committee (NEC) on Thursday passed a vote of confidence in Ayu and the NWC, despite calls for the resignation of the party chairman.

Speaking at the meeting, Ayu asked Wabara to reach out to the Rivers State governor and others over the crisis rocking the party.

The PDP national chairman also asked the new BoT chairman to ensure efforts are in top gear for the party’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.

Dear Brother Peter Obi, I Can’t Deny You – Shehu Sani Makes Demand From LP Candidate

The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has asked Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to remember him when he finally received monetary support from his kindred in the diaspora ahead of the 2023 election.

Sani who has found shelter in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) camp, took to Twitter on Saturday morning to jokingly ask the former Governor of Anambra State who he referenced as his good friend, to send him something [money he jokingly meant].

The 8th national assembly lawmaker, however, cursed Obi’s enemies, saying they shall suffer.

I Won’t Accept Chairmanship Of PDP Gov Forum — Makinde

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde on Friday said he would not accept the chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum.

Makinde stated this while commissioning the newly constructed Nwaobasi Estate Road and the Osaa Okea–Umuakatawom Road in Aba, Abia State.

The PDP Governor noted that the claim in some quarters that he had been appointed as the chairman of the forum is a lie.

Makinde said if they give him the position, he will reject it because there must be an order.

According to Makinde, if the chairman of the forum, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal resigns, the deputy chairman of the forum, Okezie Ikpeazu is expected to take over.

The Oyo State Governor further stated that the south is not fighting for the office of the governor’s forum.

He wondered how PDP will restructure Nigeria as promised when it has not restructured the party.

2023: Peter Obi Gives Only Condition That Will Make Him Stop Campaigning For Presidency

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has vowed to stop campaigning for the presidency if anyone can prove he misappropriated funds received as governor of Anambra state.

The former governor made the statement while speaking to Nigerians in the United Kingdom and urged officials working in the government to stop stealing public funds.

According to Obi, he received over half a trillion naira during his eight-year tenure as the governor of Anambra state without misappropriating any percentage of the money.

He further dared anyone to prove his statement wrong, adding that if they can, he would stop campaigning for the presidency.

2023: ‘Crisis Rocks APC Presidential Campaign Council List’

The composition of the All Progressives Congress‘ presidential national campaign council list has led to a crisis in the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Naija News learnt that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party is not pleased with the role allotted to them in the council.

According to a source that spoke with Daily Sun, major directorate positions in the council are led by loyalists of the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu.

This is coming after Tinubu submitted the presidential campaign council list to the leadership of the party this week.

The source disclosed that the meeting of the three-man committee of the party with the DG of the council, comprising the National Legal Adviser, the National Organising Secretary and Deputy Women Leader ended in deadlock after realising that the council was populated by Tinubu’s camp.

It was stated that the names of the proposed national officers were given “just inconsequential membership positions” in the council.

The source further stated that the NWC of the party had requested the specific directorate.

2023: ‘PDP Governors Divided Into Four Over Party Crisis’

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reportedly divided into four camps amidst the crisis in the party.

This is coming after only four out of thirteen governors in the party, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed attended the National National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party.

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri had sent their deputies to the meeting.

A source that spoke with The Nation on the crisis of the party said the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar can boast of six governors on his side.

According to the source, five other governors are in the camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The source described the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel as the ‘tie breakers’ in the party.

APC, PDP Refuse To Disclose Campaign Funding Sources, Obi Reveals

The All Progressives Congress (APC) with eighteen days to the commencement of presidential campaigns have refused to reveal the sources of funding for their campaign activities.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier stated that campaigns for the presidential election in 2023 will commence on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

With the presidential campaign in sight, Section 88 of the Electoral Act, 2022 pegs had restricted presidential candidates to spending nothing more than N5bn.

Also, the sum an individual or entity can donate to the candidate is N50m.

The Media and Publicity for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga while speaking on the source of the funds in an interview with Punch said their strategy of raising funds for Tinubu’s campaign is not for media consumption.

He noted that the fundraising committee when put in place would be able to answer the question of how the funds were raised.

PDP Crisis: Wike Has More Governors On His Side – Party Official

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday claimed that the camp of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has the support of more governors in the party than the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar

The PDP leader who spoke on condition of anonymity with The Nation revealed this while reacting to the claim that Atiku had more governors on his side.

There had been claimed that the former vice president has the support of six governors, while Wike has the support of five governors.

The source in the camp of Governor Wike in his reaction said Atiku’s camp does not have up to six governors on his side.

According to the source, a drama will unfold soon that will make it visible that Atiku does not have that much support.

He further stated that Governor Wike’s camp has rejected the shifting of the office of BoT chairman in the party to the South.
