2023: Stop Considering Religion And Tribe – Peter Obi
Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to avoid politics based on religion and tribalism in the upcoming elections.
Speaking on the upcoming election via his verified Twitter handle, the former governor of Anambra state said that the current state of the nation calls for everyone one to come together and shun tribe and religion.
He asked Nigerians to vote candidates whose portfolios show that they can get the job done.
2023: ‘Why El-Rufai Was Dropped As APC Presidential Campaign DG’
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress has revealed why the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai was dropped as the presidential campaign DG of the party.
The APC chieftain who spoke with the Sun on condition of anonymity said El-Rufai was dropped because of the controversy over the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the party.
He further stated that El-Rufai was considered more vibrant and influential.
The party, however, had to appoint the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong as the DG because of the same faith joint ticket.
The chieftain noted that the party won’t be able to campaign for its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima the DG is a Muslim.
He said the acceptable Christians that would have been chosen are aggrieved about the same faith ticket of the party.
Why Wike Did Not Invite Tambuwal To Launch Project – Group
A group identified as Arewa Paradigm Shift has revealed why the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal was not invited to Rivers State, by the state Governor, Nyesom Wike to commission projects.
Recall that Governor Wike invited the former Governor of the Sokoto State, Aliyu Wamakko, to inaugurate a project in the state last week.
Wamakko one of the founding fathers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) inaugurated the Ogbum-Nu-Abali Eastern Bypass road.
The Director of Mobilisation of the group, Adamu Musa-Illela, in a statement released in Kaduna on Saturday said Wamakko was invited because he is more influential than Tambuwal.
2023: How APC Plans To Solve Controversy Over Muslim-Muslim Ticket – Nze Duru
The Deputy National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Nze Chidi Duru, on Sunday revealed how the party plans to solve the controversy around the same faith ticket.
According to Duru, the ruling party will take time to explain to Nigerians that the Muslim-Muslim ticket is no plan to Islamise the country.
He further stated that the party would explain why it had to pick the former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as its vice presidential candidate.
Duru said the party can not base its decision on putting Shettima on competence and capability.
He, however, said Shettima was picked because he provide the missing link to the ticket to the party.
Duru stated this during an interview with Sun on Sunday.
2023: ‘APC Face Challenges As Campaigns Begin Next Month’
The All Progressives Congress (APC) might be faced with challenges ahead of its presidential campaign which is starting next month.
There are indications that the ruling party might go into the 2023 general elections with a divided house.
Some presidential aspirants are still aggrieved about the outcome of the presidential primary of the party, while some lawmakers are not pleased with them losing return ticket to the National Assembly.
The party is also battling the controversy over the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of APC in 2023.
President Buhari Is God’s Punishment For Nigerians – Former Ambassador, Farounbi
A former Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines, Yemi Farounbi on Sunday said Nigerians were warned in 2014 against voting for Muhammadu Buhari as president.
According to Farounbi, Nigerians entered one chance when they voted for Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in 2015.
Farounbi further stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is God’s punishment for Nigeria.
The former Ambassador stated this while speaking on a radio programme in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
2023: Miyetti Allah Rejects Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Obi
The Miyetti Allah group has charged Fulanis in Nigeria not to vote for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi in the 2023 general elections.
The group in a statement released on Sunday described the former Governor of Anambra State as a ‘tribal bigot’.
According to Miyetti Allah, Obi has the interest of Biafran which would not favour Fulanis in the country if he emerge as president in 2023.
The National Secretary-General of the Fulani socio-cultural group, Saleh Ahassan lay the allegation against Obi in an interview with Punch.
Miyetti Allah further stated that Obi should not be considered for the presidency in the forthcoming election.
Buhari Gives Bashir Ahmad New Appointment After Losing APC Primary
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Bashir Ahmad as his Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications.
Naija News reports that Bashir Ahmad was formerly President Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, confirmed the latest appointment of Ahmad in a letter of appointment dated July 20, 2022.
SGF Mustapha said the appointment took effect from July 19, 2022.
Recall that Bashir Ahmad had resigned from his former position after Buhari directed all political office holders wishing to contest elective office to resign.
He, however, failed to secure the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s primaries for Gaya, Ajingi, Albasu Federal Constituency.
Wike vs Atiku: ‘Mystery’ Man Behind Suit Against Atiku, PDP, Tambuwal Revealed
A former presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Cosmos Ndukwe, has claimed that he is behind the suit challenging the presidential candidate of the party, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and not the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
Naija News had earlier reported that a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/782/2022, allegedly instituted by Wike and one Newgent Ekamon, had been filed against the PDP presidential candidate; Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal; and the PDP over the conduct of the presidential primary of the party which was held in Abuja on May 28 and May 29, 2022.
Ekamon asked the court to determine eight points, including whether transferring Tambuwal’s votes to Atiku in the primary was illegal and void.
Distancing himself from the case in a statement on Friday through his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, Wike had accused Atiku loyalists of initiating the court case.
Jigawa: APC Loses Senatorial Candidate, Gaya To Death
The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has lost its senatorial candidate for Jigawa Central, Tijjani Ibrahim Kiyawa to death.
A family source that spoke with Daily Post disclosed that Kiyawa died on Saturday around 11 pm.
The APC candidate died in a hospital in the Federal Capital Territory after suffering from illness.
Kiyawa served as a member of the House of Representatives for Dutse and the Kiyawa Federal constituency from 2011-2015 under the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
He also contested in the governorship primary of the main opposition party in 2019 but lost to Aminu Ibrahim Ringim.
Kiyawa dumped PDP for APC where he got the senatorial ticket of the party for the Jigawa central in the 2023 election.
