Atiku’s Presidency Is Threatened Because Of Breach Of Power Rotation – Okechukwu
A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Osita Okechukwu has said that the refusal to honour the power rotation principle is destroying Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar‘s chances at the 2023 election.
Okechukwu, while speaking to journalists on Sunday in Abuja, referred to the APC Northern Governors’ letter to President Muhammadu Buhari dated June 4, 2022, as evidence that the rotation of the presidency between the North and South is intended to unite the country.
He quoted the governors saying, “After careful deliberation, we wish to state our firm conviction that after eight years in the office of President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC for 2023 election should be one of our teeming members from the southern states of Nigeria.
No Plan To Impeach Gov El-Rufai – Speaker
The Speaker of Kaduna House of Assembly, Yusuf Zailani on Sunday cleared the air on a plan to impeach the state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
According to Zailani, the alleged impeach move is the handiwork of the opposition and people who are not pleased with the relationship of El-Rufai with the lawmakers.
An alleged plan to impeach El-Rufai had trended on Sunday.
He further stated that the opposition plans to deny the people of dividends of democracy.
The speaker in a statement released through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani called on the public to disregard the report.
2023: I Will Fight Anyone Working With Secondus – Wike
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has threatened to deal with any member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) working with a former National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.
Wike issued the threat on Saturday at the flagging off ceremony of the construction of internal roads in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Naija News understands.
The governor claimed that anybody that is working with Secondus is an enemy of the state, adding that he will fight anyone that fights him.
He said, “If anybody fights our system we will fight the person back.
Osun: Tribunal Fixes Monday For Hearing Oyetola’s Application Against Adeleke, PDP
The Electoral Tribunal for the Osun State governorship election has fixed Monday for the hearing of an ex-parte application filed by the state Governor and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola.
The Tribunal fixed the hearing for Monday after failing to serve the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ademola Adeleke court process on the case challenging his victory.
The secretary of the election tribunal, David Umar while addressing newsmen on the issue said Adeleke could not make himself available to receive the service.
According to Umar, the counsels to the Incumbent Governor of Osun State filed an ex-parte application for substituted service on Adeleke.
He further stated that if the application sails through, the tribunal would have been empowered to effect service of the court process on Adeleke using other means such as pasting it on Adeleke’s residence.
The tribunal might have to paste on the notice board of the panel or any other place as ordered by the court.
PDP Crisis: Wike’s Camp Gives New Condition For Peace
The camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike have given new condition for peace to reign in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The main opposition party has been battling with issues between its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Wike.
There have been steps to reconcile Atiku and Governor Wike ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
A source in the camp of Wike who spoke with Vanguard on the crisis in the party said what they require is significant guarantees that will restore their confidence in the process of reconciliation.
‘You Cannot Crush Anybody’ – Secondus Fires Governor Wike Over Threats
A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has slammed the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, for threatening to crush anyone who associates with him (Secondus).
Secondus, a former ally of the Rivers State Governor, is reportedly backing the presidential ambition of the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who is currently at loggerheads with Wike.
Recall that he was removed from office in August 2021 after multiple court orders were issued against his continuation as the national chairman of the party.

Edo Electoral Commission Releases Timetable For LGA Polls, Fixes Date For Election
The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) has released the timetable for the local government elections, fixing the election for Saturday, January 14, 2023.
Naija News understands that this is pursuant to section 21 of Edo State Local Government Electoral Law and the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission Establishment (Re-enactment) (Amendment 1) Law 2022.
In a statement, signed by Emmanuel Abebe, on behalf of the Chairman of EDSIEC, the Commission said, “pursuant to section 21 of Edo State Local Government Electoral Law and the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission Establishment (Re-enactment) (Amendment 1) Law 2022, notice of Election is hereby given as follows: that election into the offices of the Chairmen and councilors for the 18 Local Government Councils in Edo State shall be held on Saturday, 14th January, 2023.”
Wike’s Loyalists Insist On PDP Chairman’s Resignation As Ayu Rejects Private Meeting With Rivers Gov
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu, has rejected fresh moves by members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to reconcile him and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
Naija News reports that Wike and his loyalists have maintained that the PDP Chairman must vacate his seat for a southerner as a condition for peace and to back the presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar.
Recall that Atiku’s team led by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State had on Friday met with Wike’s men led by former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko to iron out differences between both camps.
It was however gathered that those in the Rivers State Governor’s camp insisted that Ayu must resign as a condition precedent for further discussion.
2023: IGP Speaks On Conduct Of Election In South East
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has said that elections will be held in the South-east in 2023.
Speaking at the opening of the ‘South-East 2023 Elections Security Management Workshop’ in Enugu on Saturday, Baba explained that efforts were being made to secure people’s votes.
The IGP, who was represented by AIG Isaac Akinmoyede, stated that the force was working with other security outfits to make sure the 2023 elections are very peaceful.
