Issues Between Wike, Atiku Resolved — PDP Guber Candidate Discloses
The misunderstanding between the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has been reportedly resolved.
Other matters related to the crisis rocking the main opposition party and decision on the latest development would be taken soon by the PDP National Working Committee, said Kaduna State governorship candidate, Isa Mohammed Ashiru.
Naija News reports that Ashiru was among seventeen PDP governorship candidates who visited Wike in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
The politicians had visited the sitting governor to settle the differences between him and Atiku and also seek his support for the party’s victory in the 2023 general elections.
Speaking after their closed-door meeting yesterday, Ashiru the meeting was fruitful in the end. He, however, refused to make open the full details of their discussion.
I Didn’t Say There’s Plot To Get Rid Of Tinubu If He Wins 2023 Election – Awolowo-Dosunmu
The Chairman, African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc, Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu, has denied reports claiming that she said there is a plot to get rid of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Naija News reports that some media outfits had quoted Awolowo-Dosumu as warning Nigerians of a plot to get rid of Tinubu in favour of his running mate, Kashim Shettima if they win the 2023 presidential election.
She was said to have urged Yorubas to stop being sentimental and tribalist about the three major candidates, contesting for the office of the presidency.
But in a statement on Wednesday, Awolowo-Dosunmu asked members of the public to ignore the fake reports, describing them as false, mischievous and wicked.
Awolowo Dosumu said she had not spoken with any journalist in recent times on any matter whatsoever including the 2023 presidential election and the candidates.
The Executive Director of the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation said she had not been in partisan politics for decades, adding that she has not endorsed nor condemned any candidate or party.
Tinubu, Shettima Arrive APC National Secretariat In Abuja
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has arrived at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
Naija News reports that Tinubu arrived at the party secretariat alongside his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, around 2: 45pm amidst tight security.
Tinubu was accompanied by the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong; Secretary of the Council, Hon. James Faleke; Nuhu Ribadu and Dele Alake, among others.
The former Governor of Anambra State was received by the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), who ushered him into the secretariat.
It is understood that the visit will provide an opportunity for Tinubu and Shettima to discuss their campaign manifesto with the APC leadership and party strategies and plans to win the forthcoming 2023 general elections in the country.
2023: Atiku Candidacy Is Putting A Sharp Knife On Things – Joe Igbokwe
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe has advanced reasons former Vice President Atiku Abubakar should not contest the 2023 presidential election.
According to Igbokwe, it is the turn of the south to produce the next President of Nigeria after President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should not be on the ballot.
Naija News reports Igbokwe, who is the Special Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu made his view known on Wednesday via a post on his Facebook page.
He claimed those pushing the Atiku candidacy are putting a sharp knife on things that have held Nigeria together since independence.
Details Emerge On What Tinubu Told APC NWC Members During Visit
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, met with members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
Naija News reports the meeting between Tinubu and the party leaders took place at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
As earlier reported by this platform, a heavy security presence was put in place for the meeting while visits to the APC secretariat was restricted as a means of crowd control measure and for security purposes.
The meeting also had in attendance, former Borno State Governor and APC vice presidential candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima.
The meeting among other things, discussed party strategies and plans to win the forthcoming 2023 general elections in the country, our correspondent gathered.
A chieftain of the APC, Joe Igbokwe took to his Facebook page to share a video revealing more details of what transpired during the meeting, particular, Tinubu captured addressing the NWC members.
PDP Fixes Dates To Hold National Caucus, BoT, NEC Meetings
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to hold its National Caucus meeting on Wednesday amidst the crisis rocking the party.
Naija News reports that the PDP National Director of Publicity, Chinwe I. Nnorom, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement revealed that the meeting is scheduled to hold at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, by 07:00 pm.
It also disclosed that the Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings are slated for Thursday, 8th September 2022, both in Abuja.
2023: Atiku Playing Politics With Call For Ayu’s Removal – PDP BoT Member
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), has accused the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar of playing politics with a call for the resignation of the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
He wonders why the former vice president and the party national chairman have different stands about his (Ayu) resignation.
According to the BoT member, Atiku wants Ayu to go after the 2023 election, while Ayu has insisted on spending four years in office.
The BoT member who does not want to be named, while speaking with Vanguard warned that Atiku has something to lose if he does not act now.
He further stated that if the National Chairman of the party wants to divide the party into North and South, he can go ahead.
The PDP leader, however, threatened that party members in the South-West are waiting for them to come and campaign.
Fashola’s Tenure More Visible Than Tinubu Govt In Lagos – APC Chieftain
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has been charged not to claim glory for the successes recorded by the administrations of former Governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode.
A chieftain of the party, Tunde Bank-Anthony on Wednesday said the administration of Fashola was more visible than Tinubu’s eight years.
Bank-Anthony made this claim during an interview on Channels TV.
He further stated that Ambode was performing but was hindered from returning to the office for the second term.
There were claims that Ambode was stopped from running for a second term over differences with Tinubu.
Wike Vs Ayu: Ortom Reveals Ways To Resolve PDP Crisis
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has revealed the ways to solve the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Naija News reports that the Rivers governor is angry over the manner of his loss to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at the presidential primary and the failure of the former Vice President to pick him as running mate.
Governor Wike and his camp have demanded the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, in order to resolve the party’s internal wranglings.
However, Ayu has rejected the demand made by the Rivers governor, stressing that he will not resign from his position.
In a chat with The Punch, the spokesman to the Governor, Nathaniel Nkurr, said one of the ways to resolve the PDP crisis is to get all the agrrieved stakeholders and PDP leaders to a roundtable.
The governor added that the party leadership should sit down and appease the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, stressing that all the blocs must agree to work together as a party.
2023: After Suspending Presidential Candidate, ADC Suspends 17 State Chairmen, One Other
The internal crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a new dimension with the party announcing the suspension of seventeen of its state chairmen for alleged anti-party activities and demeaning utterances.
The party also suspended its former national vice-chairman, north-east, Ibrahim Manzo for the same offences.
The worrying development was contained in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja signed by the ADC national chairman, Ralph Nwosu and its national secretary, Said Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the activities of the suspended persons contravened article 15 of the party’s constitution.
The statement also conveyed the appointment of former presidential aspirant, Mani Ahmed as the chairman of the party’s board of trustees (BoT).
Naija News understands Ahmed emerged as the party’s BoT chairman at the end of an emergency national working committee (NWC) and critical stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday.
Oyinlola, Tambuwal, Ugwuanyi Tipped For PDP Campaign Council DG
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite the crisis in the party is all out to constitute members of its presidential campaign council.
The back and forth between the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike had delayed the party from announcing members of the council, Naija News understands.
A former governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola has been tipped to emerge the Director-General of the PDP Campaign Council.
Others tipped for the position are the governors of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, and Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Oyinlola and Tambuwal are seen as allies of the party’s presidential candidate, while Ugwuanyi is known to be an ally of the Governor of Rivers State.
A source that spoke with Daily Independent said Ugwuanyi’s name was suggested, giving Wike’s camp ten days to accept the chance of producing the campaign DG.
The source believes Tambuwal might not be favoured due to the issue on the ground that northerners are taking charge of sensitive positions in the party.
Court Adjourns Suit Demanding Tinubu’s Governorship Particulars With INEC
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed a new date for the hearing of an application asking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release the particulars of Bola Tinubu during the 1999 and 2003 Governorship elections.
Naija News reports that the court fixed October 12 to hear the case after INEC presented no legal representation on the resumed date of sitting on Wednesday.
Mike Enahoro-Ebah Esq, in an application, sued INEC before Justice Donatus Okorowo, praying the court for the “nomination forms for governor and affidavits in support of personal particulars and all other documents attached thereto, submitted to the respondent by and on behalf of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the 1999 and 2003 Governorship Elections in Lagos State.”
He contended that his request is in line with the Freedom of Information Act.
The lawyer is apparently trying to determine the coherence of Tinubu’s particulars as governor and presidential candidate.
