Lee Carsley finally set to meet Thomas Tuchel as outgoing England boss prepares dossier to win World Cup

LEE CARSLEY wants his England dossier to help fire up Thomas Tuchel’s charge for World Cup glory.

Interim Three Lions boss Carsley signed off with a five-star thumping at Wembley to secure promotion back to the Nations League’s top tier.

Tuchel takes over the reigns in January

Harry Kane, Anthony Gordon, Conor Gallagher, Jarrod Bowen and Taylor Harwood-Bellis netted second-half goals against ten-man Republic of Ireland.

And Carsley revealed: “I will put together a document, then hopefully go and meet Thomas and present what we think and what we’ve found.

“It’s a job that deserves an elite coach with a track record of winning — and Thomas has that.

“We’ve increased the pool of players and the next squad will be a real challenge to pick. It’s exciting times ahead.”

Defenders Tino Livramento and Harwood-Bellis were handed debuts, making it EIGHT players to make their senior Three Lions bow under Carsley.

Carsley, 50, oversaw five wins and a home defeat to Greece during his six games in charge.

He hands over the reins to Tuchel on January 1 but believes England are well-placed as they head into the World Cup qualifiers in March.

Carsley added: “We’ve tried to adapt and move on the style, the control, the possession, the number of chances we make.

“The challenge for the players involved for the last three camps is to be in the March squad.

“A lot have enhanced their reputation of their ability to play in the England senior team.

“I am still gutted about the Greece game at home.

“I’m not thinking about the five wins — it is the one we have lost.

“I wanted the England team to be exciting to watch and be attacking.”

After a frustrating first half, Ireland defender Liam Scales’ foul on Jude Bellingham to concede a 53rd-minute penalty and earn a second yellow card opened the floodgates.

After Kane’s spot-kick, Gordon, Gallagher, Bowen and Harwood-Bellis all netted — 94 years after four players last scored maiden England goals in the same game.

Skipper Kane last week questioned the commitment of players who cried off through injury for the international break.

And he said: “A lot of young players have come in and done well. Thomas has a tough squad to pick.

“I’m sure he will be looking at everyone.”

Ireland boss Heimir Hallgrimsson lamented “six minutes of madness” and said his side “lost our heads and gave up” after the red card and penalty.

Skipper Nathan Collins added: “It’s probably an apology from all the lads for that second half. That’s nowhere near the standard we should be.”

Greece secured a 2-0 win in Finland in the other Group B2 match.
