Leipzig Manager Describes Nkunku Chelsea Move As ‘Speculation’
RB Leipzig manager, Marco Rose, has described claims that Christopher Nkunku has already signed a contract to join Chelsea as “speculation.”
Naija News earlier reported that the French international is on the verge of signing a new deal with the London team.
However, the report also stressed that the Leipzig forward is considering his options.
Nkunku is thought to have had his medical and signed a pre-contract with the Blues. The France international’s £52.7 million release clause will go into play next summer, should he make a move to Stamford Bride.
When asked to confirm the report during a UEFA Champions League (UCL) pre-match conference versus Celtic, the German boss responded as follows: “It’s speculation, we don’t comment on it. “We don’t care, we don’t care.”
Chelsea Manager, Graham Potter was also cautious when asked about the rumours around Nkunku.
Potter informed the press: “My answer is that I don’t speak about players that aren’t Chelsea players. It was the same at Brighton. There are a lot of names out there but I will only speak about Chelsea players and not anyone else.”
When also asked if he would be interested in signing Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, by January, Potter responded, “We can spend all day with these questions but I’m not going to speak about this. If they are not our players, I am not going to speak to them.”
While he has already scored six goals in the 2022–23 season, the 24-year-old scored 20 goals and made 13 assists in the league last year.
