Man Defrauds Girlfriend Of N2m, Uses Money To Marry Another Lady
A 30-year-old man, Akeem Bello, has has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court for reportedly defrauding his girlfriend, Olaotan Oladapo.
Bello was arraigned on a two-count charge of fraud and obtaining by false pretence.
The suspect was said to have defrauded Oladapo of N2 million between March and December last year.
It was gathered that the defendant started dating the victim in 2018.
Police prosecutor, Inspector A. Ajeniwa informed the court that the defendant started defrauding the victim by siphoning the money she sent to him from overseas for his personal use.
Ajenwa alleged that Akeem used the money for his marriage with another lady.
The prosecutor also stated that the victim’s womb has been damaged due to series of abortions done for the defendant.
He said the offences contravened Sections 383 and 421,390 (b and c) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37. Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Presiding Magistrate, C.M Akinwumi ordered the remand of the defendant at Olokuta Custodial Centre.
The case was adjourned to November 2nd, 2022 for further hearing.
Victim Of Assault In Bayelsa Speaks
The victim of a physical assault in Nasarawa State, Blessing Mathias has shown the extent of the injuries she sustained from the beating by Emmanuella Onawegie and her father who’s a senior lecturer at the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), Dr Fred Ekpe Ayokhai.
Naija News reports that Emmanuela’s family on Friday, October 21, 2022, in a viral video was captured flogging and stripping 20-year-old girl Blessing after she allegedly beat her up over a man.
Emmanuella was seen alongside her father Ekpe Ayokhai, and other family members beat Blessing whom they later drove into an unknown forest where the senior lecturer used a pair of scissors to tear her dress from her body, abandoning her in the middle of nowhere.
The video sparked an outrage which led the police to swiftly take action by arresting Emmanuella and her father, Fred.
However, in the video seen by this publication, Blessing who spoke a bit about how she was unable to lift her hands after the incident, showed off the injury she sustained during the incident.
She also noted that she has not been feeling like herself since the incident.
