MANCHESTER UNITED fans are dreaming of signing Kylian Mbappe after his transfer bombshell emerged at the same time of reports that the Qataris have won the takeover race for the club.

The French forward has allegedly informed Paris Saint-Germain he will not extend his contract.

Mbappe‘s deal with PSG runs out in 2024 but there is a clause that could see him stay until 2025.

The extra year, though, is a player option, which means it is up to the forward whether he wants to trigger it or not.

The 24-year-old star reportedly sent the French champions a formal letter informing them that under no circumstances will he be activating that option.

Just yesterday PSG insisted he would not be leaving the Parc des Princes in the upcoming transfer window.

But the Parisians will have to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.

And now United supporters are going wild over his bombshell and hope that the reports that Sheikh Jassim has won the United takeover race so they can land the World Cup winner are true.

One supporter tweeted: “If Man United get a Qatar takeover, we will sign Mbappe!”

Another wrote: “Mbappe leaving PSG and Qatar taking over United from Qatar sources released at the same time. Are you thinking what am thinking?”

A fellow supporter said: “Sheikh Jassim, announce Qatar and Mbappe to United is all I want to hear.”

As another wrote: “Manchester United acquisition by Qatar and the same time MBAPPE not signing. Something is cooking.”

Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani has been vying with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos to buy the Red Devils.

Ineos had been the front-runners to purchase a 60 per cent stake in United, which would have seen the Glazer family stay on in a reduced role at Old Trafford.

But according to paper Al-Watan, owned by Sheikh Jassim’s dad, the Qatari bid for Man United has been successful.

They add that following “successful” talks – an announcement of Sheikh Jassim’s takeover will arrive “soon”.

Sheikh Jassim’s latest offer for a 100 per cent stake in United is thought to be worth around £5bn.
