Muslim-Muslim Ticket Should Not Matter To Southerners – Akeredolu
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has asked the people of the South not to bother about the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akeredolu stated this on Wednesday at the swearing-in of two new commissioners held at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.
He urged the people of the South not to worry about the same faith ticket, stressing that the governors of the region fought for the 2023 presidency to be zoned to the South.
Akereolu advised the Southerners and Nigerians to vote for performance and competence instead of religion in 2023.
The governor argued that it is the Presidential candidate that the people would vote for and that the work stops on the president’s table
“Let’s vote for someone that can do something. The work stops on the table of the President. It is the President that you are voting for. He decides what happens. Whether it’s a Muslim/Muslim or Christian/Christian, it should not matter to us in the South because we fought for this.
“I have no doubt that given the opportunity from what he has done in Lagos, Asiwaju Tinubu will turn things around for better,” he said.
Naija News reports that the choice of Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, have elicited mixed reactions.
While some groups and individuals have described the choice of a Muslim as a disrespect to Christians, others have supported the decision.
