Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Tinubu Insulted Northern Christians, Must Apologise – APC Senator
The lawmaker representing Adamawa North in the Senate, Elisha Ishaku Abbo has demanded an apology from the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He called for an apology from the APC presidential candidate for insinuating that no northern Christian is competent to run as his vice president.
Naija News reports that while defending his decision to pick former Borno State Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima, as his running mate, Tinubu had said he made his choice based on competence.
However, many party chieftains, mostly Christians from the North, have kicked against his decision, citing national unity.
Senator Abbo told The SUN that Tinubu’s reasons were insulting to the Christians in the North.
He also called on Muslims across the nation to come out and condemn the decision made by Bola Tinubu.
The lawmaker wrote: “It is insulting to say that there is no competent Christian in the North to be a vice president. How competent is Tinubu to be president?
“If you say because my father is a Christian in the North, he is competent, that is the height of an insult.
“You mean that no bishop, no Christian professor in the North is competent to be vice president? That is annoying and insulting, and Tinubu should apologize to the Christians in the North for saying that.
“As I said earlier, this shouldn’t bother the Christians; it is the Muslims that should be the ones kicking against this decision because it is against the Muslim faith.”
