Nigeria vs Cape Verde: Ighalo Can Help Us – Says Rohr Ahead Of Tuesday Clash
Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr, has expressed hope in Odion Ighalo to help the Nigerian team defeat Cape Verde Islands on Tuesday.
Naija News understands that Tuesday’s Final 2022 World Cup qualifying group match is a must-win for Rohr’s men.
The Eagles’ are currently leading Group C with 12 points, with Cape Verde two points behind in second place.
Rohr had benched Ighalo last Saturday when the Nigerian team played against Liberia.
The former Manchester United player who recently came out of international retirement is now, however, in contention for Tuesday’s game.
Speaking on Ighalo’s chances of playing the Tuesday match at a press conference on Monday, Rohr said: “In this department, Ighalo can help us very much. We have wonderful goalscorers, Osimhen, Kelechi who can score.
“I don’t know if he will start the game or not. We will make a decision after the training tomorrow morning but Ighalo will help us.
“He can score every moment, each situation he’s able because he’s very clever to score a goal,” Rohr added.
Meanwhile, the 2022/2023 English Premier League season game will kick start on August 6, 2022.
The top-level English football league revealed this in a statement released on its website on Thursday, November 11.
Naija News understands the new change was made to accommodate the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will take place in the middle of the domestic calendar.
The statement: “The Premier League season will start on 6 August 2022.
“Match round 16 will be the last set of matches played over the weekend of 12-13 November ahead of the call-up period for the tournament beginning on Monday 14 November.
“The League will resume on Boxing Day following the FIFA World Cup Final, which takes place on Sunday 18 December 2022.”
