The PUNCH: The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, has summoned a meeting with leaders of political parties over the reported clashes among their supporters in some states. Yakubu disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday, during the training of master trainers on election technology for the 2023 general election, as the police planned to spend N13bn on the purchase of firearms and other security hardware ahead of the polls.
The Guardian: Disturbed by increasing incidents of violence at campaigns and growing resort to incendiary comments barely three weeks after signing the Peace Accord, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed concerns over the spate of violence at the ongoing campaigns. The Commission said it would summon leaders of political parties next week over the resort to violence.
This Day: President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, issued a stern warning to all ministers, permanent secretaries, and other top government officials not to involve themselves in electioneering activities ahead of the general election scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.

Daily Trust: There are indications that the fifth alteration to the 1999 Constitution may not see the light of the day as speakers of states’ Houses of Assembly have given conditions to act on the bills transmitted to them by the National Assembly. The demands of the speakers include bills seeking the establishment of state police and state judicial councils
