Okowa Speaks Emergence Of Adeleke As Osun Governor-elect
The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Okowa, has applauded the people of Osun State over their choice of Senator Ademola Adeleka as their next Governor.
Naija News had earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Adeleke as the winner.
Adeleke defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and incumbent governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola.
Governor Oyetola gathered 375,027 votes, while Adeleke polled 403,371 votes to win the election.
Adeleke won 17 local government areas in the state, while the candidate of the APC, Oyetola won the remaining 13 local government areas in the state.
Okowa in a post on his Twitter account on Sunday congratulated Adeleke for his victory at the polls.
The Delta state Governor said Senator Adeleke’s victory has shown the entire country that the PDP is ready, willing, and able to rescue Nigeria in 2023.
He therefore prayed that the PDP can sustain the drive into next year, as the party works to elect Atiku Abubakar as the next President of Nigeria.
He wrote: “I congratulate the people of Osun State and my brother, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the @OfficialPDPNig candidate for a decisive victory at yesterday’s polls.
”Senator Adeleke’s victory has shown the entire country that the PDP is ready, willing, and able to rescue Nigeria in 2023. It not only sets the momentum for the future, but it also highlights the need for unity within our ranks.
”This is why, as we prepare for the arduous task ahead, I pray that our party can sustain this drive into next year, as we work to elect Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the next President of Nigeria.
”Congratulations to the people of Osun! Congratulations to my brother, Senator @AAdeleke_01! Congratulations to our great party, the PDP!”
