Ondo: Unemployed Man Attempts Suicide After Alleged Plot To Kill Wife Fails

A 42-year-old man identified as Awelewa Monday, has tried to commit suicide in Powerline axis of Ijoka in Akure South Council Area of Ondo State after an alleged plan to kill his wife failed.

Sources told Daily Post that that the man who has being unemployed for a while had tried to kill his wife when he inflicted a deep cut on her neck while she was fast asleep.

The source said that loud screams from the wife alerted their children and neighbours who came to the rescue of the victim.

One of the sources disclosed that the man and his wife had for a while been having issues when she refused to lend him more money, because he did not pay back the one he had earlier borrowed.

When the suspect heard that his father-in-law had reported his action at the police station, he proceeded to a nearby well and jumped inside.

It took some sympathizers a few minutes to rescue him.

With the incident reported at the police station, the police spokesperson in the state, SP Funmilayo Odunlami told the aforementioned publication that she was yet to be informed on the development.
