PDP Crisis: Ortom And Okowa Meet In Public (Photos)

Governor of Delta State and the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Okowa, has met with his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom.

The two PDP leaders met on Thursday in Abuja at the inauguration of Most Reverend Daniel Okoh as the new president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

This development comes months after Ortom in an interview on Channels TV condemned the emergence of Okowa as the running mate to the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Ortom had accused Atiku of ignoring the counsel of a committee set up to pick the vice-presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 general elections.

The governor disclosed that the committee that he chaired submitted three names to the former vice president to choose his running mate.

Ortom said that the three names sent to Atiku were Governor Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Governor Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta State) and Governor Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom State).

He, however, said that out of the three names, Wike was described as eminently qualified, insisting that the PDP needed the Rivers governor to clinch the 2023 presidential seat.

The PDP chieftain concluded that Atiku should have reached out to Wike and some others in the party before he chose and announced Okowa as his running mate.
