PDP Crisis: What I Can Say To Wike Is Aluta Continua – Makinde
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has said that the governors who are supporting Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike will continue to fight for their place in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Makinde said this during the commissioning of the Emohua campus of the Rivers State University where he was the special guest of honour.
He stated that his camp lost in the presidential primaries because they stood for the truth.
He said, “even the fight that we lost, we did not lose with our heads bowed.
“We lost knowing that we stood for the truth and we stood for what is good for this country.
“What I will say to you (Wike) is Aluta continua. We will continue to fight for our space within the PDP and we will continue to ensure that what is right for our people is given to our people”.
The Crisis In The PDP
The turbulence in the PDP began after Wike lost to Atiku Abubakar during the presidential primaries.
The Rivers state governor claimed that the primary election was manipulated to favour the former vice president.
Things took a turn for the worse after Atiku chose Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as the party’s vice presidential candidate.
While Wike has insisted several times that he was not interested in the vice presidential position, he has however called for the resignation of the party’s national chairman Iyorchia Ayu to assuage his bruised ego.
Ayu on the other hand has stated categorically that he will not be leaving power till his tenure is over.
